Swing me way down south, sing me something brave from your mouth

9 03 2011

Lately I’ve been daydreaming about packing up and traveling the country, and mostly in a vehicle which could contain my whole world.

Cars are overrated my friends, let’s embrace our inner Huck and return to the river.

Curse you modern typography!

19 02 2011

Dang it.  I just learned that I’ve been typing wrong since my sophomore year in high school. According to Slate, one shouldn’t place two spaces at the end of a sentence, just one.

This is a hard blow and I imagine it will lead to a lot of backspacing and foul language.

Unspeakable joy! Unbearable light!

8 03 2010

Like most good titles, this should probably have been left to simmer for a while.  Oh well.  Rome wasn’t built in a day, you know.

I just picked up this little number from B&N and can not tell you how excited I am to have it in hand… it actually warranted a small jig in the notebook section I was so happy.

I had always imagined about-to-be-released books were carefully guarded until the morning of the release.  Apparently, I have much to learn…

All I had to do was ask about the book and the sales person was quite happy to trek to the back to get it from the pallet for me.  I wanted to buy them all, but limited myself to two.  Eek!

I can’t wait to see what adventures Flavia will take me on this time.  A good book holds the same anticipation to me as an upcoming trip – it satisfies the mind, the soul, and everything in-between.

Huzzah to adventures in paper!

it’s hard to say goodbye

3 07 2009

without recalling whatever you’ve withheld from someone.

without regretting hasty words that you said behind their back.

without wishing you would have pursued more time with them.

without wondering whether or not they feel loved by you.

without worrying that you haven’t been who you could have been.

without thinking of yourself, mostly, as they grab the last suitcase and go on their way.

Christmas in your heart…

16 01 2009

I do like Christmas on the whole…  In its clumsy way, it does approach Peace and Goodwill.  But it is clumsier every year.
